About

Three Distinct Modes of Learning

Engaging, Live Online Learning

Most mornings, students will attend live, online classes with Mississippi-based teachers, who will provide engaging and rich instruction utilizing the best research-proven strategies for remote, synchronous learning. Most core classes will take place in this format and will be delivered on grade level and aligned with state standards.

Targeted, Self-Paced Online Learning

Students will participate in two types of self-paced online learning: (1) On Monday through Thursday, in the afternoons, students will engage in assigned work from the same live, core academic course they attended live that morning. Students will work independently on these teacher-prescribed learning activities that can be differentiated based on individual students’ needs. During this time, students will have direct access to their teachers for additional support including phone calls, small group tutoring sessions, and 1:1 conferences. (2) On Fridays, students will engage in elective courses, which are fully self-paced, while teachers monitor progress and provide support.

Intentional, On-Campus Learning

Twice each month, all staff and students will converge on campus to engage in unit assessments, presentations and labs, introductory lessons, and culture-building activities. The on-campus experience is designed to allow teachers and students to make meaningful personal connections, provide opportunities for students to engage in hands-on and extra-curricular activities, and ensure extra levels of accountability.
